Which gets me to thinking ...
Want to know what else is a nice feeling? Reading my 2012 horoscope. It says I'm going to be successful this year and that's totally something I'm looking forward to. Who knows if I'll be successful with my day job or my "night" job (writing, of course), but it's still a nice, pleasant thought. Not that I put too much stock in believing horoscopes, but for some strange reason it's been pretty accurate for not only myself - but also for a few others I know this year. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens, won't I?
In December my book, The Kindness of Strangers, was free for a week. It was downloaded over 1900 times! That's 1900 new readers! I could care less about how much was earned, I'm so excited to see people's reactions - even if they're bad. So far I've heard from a couple of new readers and the comments have been positive, which is really the pick-me-up I think I needed to get my butt into gear and continue writing "The Last Curl" and "From Heaven". I was even pulled out of a shopping line at one of my local grocery stores, when a reader recognized me from my author page picture. That was such an incredible moment ... let me tell you! I cried! Truly had tears pouring down my face!
I have the best in-law's ever ... really ... EVER! I can't explain why, but just trust me ... I really do!
The company I've been with for nearly twelve years was sold back in October to a much LARGER company (*cough* Thomson Reuters *cough*). It's really interesting to see the huge differences going from a small company to a much larger one. It's exciting, in a way, to have this whole big package, with so many resources and abilities. Did you know they are willing to match charitable donations their employees contribute to?! How freaking awesome is that?! Not to mention they give their employees a paid day off to volunteer for their favorite charity - Volunteer Day. How philanthropic! I'm over-the-moon researching the best charity to devote my time to for my Volunteer Day. Do I want to help a soup kitchen, or perhaps a Head Start? Do I want to do a cancer walk, or perhaps volunteer at a zoo? The possibilities are endless.
Well ... I think I'm done blabbering for now. I'd like to say thank you to all that have purchased a copy of my book, whether it was FREE or not, I'm glad to have you as a new reader! I'm always up for suggestions and if you liked or didn't like my book, I'd love to hear why. I definitely could use any advice for my upcoming projects, if you want to take a peek at them (there are chapters posted on my website, just click on the links above for The Last Curl and From Heaven). Thanks again and Happy New Year!
